Associated Land Surveyors & Planners, PC was established in 1988 by Terry A. Baker upon receiving his land surveying license from the State of North Carolina. Terry received his Civil Engineering degree from Asheville-Buncombe Technical College in 1983 and began to apprentice under another local surveyor. You might say that Terry learned the business of surveying from the ground up.
Terry’s four children, Cameron, Stephanie, Dillon, and Brett have all had a hand with the growth and expansion of the firm. From working part time over the summers to transitioning into full-time positions with ALS and our sister company, Construction Specialties & Design Builders, Inc. (CSDB). Over the last 35+ years the family business has grown from two employees to an office full of skilled staff members.
Cameron, the oldest son, joined the team as an apprentice after attending Western Carolina University. He has been with ALS full-time since 2004 and leads our team with a wealth of experience and knowledge. He received his land surveying license from NC in 2010 and graduated in 2025 with his BS in Surveying and Mapping Science from East Tennessee State University. Brett, the youngest, also joined ALS in 2014 and continues to be a valuable member of our field teams, working as a construction field project manager.
With precision and timeliness, ALS tackles numerous projects regardless of size and challenges. From managing larger subdivisions such as the Homestead at Mills River & Cummings Cove, commercial projects such as the Tryon International Equestrian Center, to residential homes and disputes; ALS always takes a personal one-on-one approach to ensure our clients’ needs are met.
